COURSE CURRICULUM

The course structure of the Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) in Computing provides students with a comprehensive foundation in computer science, software engineering, research, and emerging technologies. In the first year, students develop essential programming and software engineering skills while studying computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, Unix and C programming, mathematics, and the role of science and technology in global challenges. The second year expands students’ technical knowledge through studies in data security, operating systems, database systems, and mobile application development, supported by research, leadership, and entrepreneurship training. In the third year, students explore advanced computing concepts including computer communications, algorithm design and analysis, programming languages, and theoretical foundations of computer science, while continuing to develop research and professional skills. The final year focuses on advanced areas such as machine learning and machine perception, preparing students for innovation in artificial intelligence and intelligent computing systems. Students complete their studies through a major research dissertation or an advanced science capstone project, applying their knowledge to real-world or research-based challenges.
