COURSE CURRICULUM

The course structure of the Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) in Chemistry is designed to provide students with a strong foundation in chemistry while developing advanced research, analytical, and professional skills. In the first year, students study fundamental chemistry principles, scientific concepts, mathematics, programming, statistics, and a range of science electives to build interdisciplinary knowledge. The second year focuses on advanced chemical studies, including chemical structure, spectroscopy, energetics, kinetics, reactions, mechanisms, and analytical chemistry, alongside research, leadership, and entrepreneurship development. In the third year, students expand their expertise through advanced analytical chemistry, spectroscopy, synthetic methods, research training, and elective studies that allow further specialisation. The fourth year is dedicated to advanced chemistry learning and independent research through a major honours dissertation or an advanced science capstone project. Students also complete advanced topics in chemical analysis, spectroscopy, and specialised chemistry areas to enhance their expertise. Throughout the course, students gain extensive laboratory experience, develop problem-solving and critical analysis abilities, and strengthen skills in scientific communication, teamwork, and innovation.
