COURSE CURRICULUM

The course structure of the Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) in Advanced Science provides a comprehensive pathway that combines foundational science, agricultural knowledge, research skills, and professional development. In the first year, students build essential knowledge in biology, chemistry, science communication, agricultural systems, land and water resources, programming, data analysis, mathematics, and related electives. The second year focuses on developing advanced agricultural expertise through studies in animal production, soil systems, quantitative biology, crop and pasture science, applied genetics, and research, leadership, and entrepreneurship in science. In the third year, students explore sustainable agricultural systems, food security, pest management, and advanced cropping technologies while choosing specialised options such as livestock production, environmental restoration, habitat mapping, or geographic information systems. Students also continue developing research and leadership capabilities through dedicated science projects. The fourth year is centred on advanced research and professional practice, including a major dissertation or capstone project, advanced statistics, and specialised electives in areas such as agricultural microbiology, bioinformatics, molecular biology, environmental science, genetics, and remote sensing.
