The Bachelor of Creative Arts is a three-year program that totals 240 credit points and is designed to develop creative skills, critical thinking, and professional readiness in the fields of music, screen media arts, or visual arts. In the first year, students build a foundation in creative thinking, research, collaboration, and an awareness of cultural, health, and safety issues related to creative industries. This stage encourages playfulness and confidence in developing ideas and working within a creative context. The second year focuses on discipline-specific learning, where students deepen their studio practice to refine technical skills, craft, and creative knowledge. They are encouraged to explore interdisciplinary opportunities and develop innovative approaches that extend beyond their main area of study. In the final year, students focus on professional practice by producing their best creative work for a final showcase and preparing a portfolio that supports future employment or further study. The course structure includes 110 credit points of core units, 70 credit points from a chosen major, 40 to 60 credit points of specialist electives, and up to 20 credit points of general electives. Students can select one major from music, screen media arts, or visual arts, each offering specific studio and theory-based units that develop practical and conceptual expertise. Core units such as Creative Collaboration, Studio Practice, and Creative Enterprise prepare students to integrate creative and entrepreneurial thinking. Specialist electives provide flexibility for students to broaden their skills, while general electives allow engagement with subjects across the university. The course requires a maximum of 100 credit points from 100-level units and at least 60 credit points from 300-level units, ensuring a balance between foundational and advanced learning. This program prepares graduates to enter the creative industries with strong artistic, technical, and professional capabilities.
