The Master of Information Systems at CQUniversity requires the completion of 15 units, totaling 96 credits, and is designed to equip students with advanced skills in information systems and enterprise technology solutions. The course consists of 11 core units that provide a strong foundation in programming, networking and cyber security, information systems analysis and design, database design and development, and business intelligence using big data. Additional core units cover project management concepts, professional skills and ethics in information and communications technology, technologies in information systems practice, knowledge audits for business analysis, and business process management. These units ensure students gain both technical proficiency and strategic understanding of information systems in modern organisations.Students also complete one four-unit minor, allowing for further specialisation or exploration of complementary areas aligned with their career goals. To apply theoretical knowledge in practical settings, students choose between two final units: the Postgraduate ICT Internship or the Information Systems Project. The internship provides hands-on industry experience, enabling students to work directly with organisations and develop workplace-ready skills, while the project unit focuses on the application of advanced concepts to real-world information systems challenges. This combination of core units, a minor, and practical experience ensures that graduates are highly skilled in managing, designing, and implementing complex information systems. The program prepares students for leadership and specialist roles such as systems analysts, business intelligence consultants, IT project managers, and enterprise systems specialists. Graduates are equipped to influence organisational decision-making, optimise business processes, and implement technology solutions that drive innovation and performance. Accredited by the Australian Computer Society, this course meets industry standards and supports students in building a professional profile that is recognised nationally and internationally, enhancing career opportunities in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.
