Course Curriculum

The Bachelor of Public Health (Specialisation) at CQUniversity requires students to complete 24 units, totaling 144 credits. The structure of the course is designed to provide both a strong foundation in public health and opportunities for specialisation. The core structure is made up of eight essential units, which give students a solid grounding in the principles, science, and practice of public health. These core units include Foundations of Health, Health and the Environment, Introductory Science, Public Health Data and Measurement, Public Health and Chronic Disease, Communicable Diseases and Public Health, Public Health Initiatives, and Public Health and Environmental Sustainability. Together, these subjects ensure that students develop knowledge across key areas such as environmental health, disease prevention, chronic disease management, public health data analysis, and the design and implementation of health initiatives.In addition to the core, students must choose a major to shape their study pathway and career direction. The program offers flexibility, allowing students to complete either one major of 16 units or one major of 12 units combined with a four-unit minor. Domestic students can choose from majors such as Environmental Health and Health Promotion, with the option of pairing their major with a minor for more tailored learning. However, international students are required to study the Generalist major, which provides a broad focus across multiple public health disciplines.This course structure ensures that students receive both a comprehensive public health education and the opportunity to specialise in areas of particular interest or relevance to their career goals. By integrating theoretical knowledge with practical application, the program prepares graduates to work across a wide range of public health roles, including environmental health, health promotion, and generalist practice, ultimately equipping them to address real-world health challenges and contribute to healthier communities.
