COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Actuarial Practice is a comprehensive 120-unit postgraduate program that provides advanced professional training in actuarial science, quantitative risk analysis, and financial modelling. The degree includes 72 units of compulsory coursework covering core actuarial disciplines such as actuarial data analysis, actuarial control cycles, mathematical statistics, regression modelling, survival models, life contingencies, financial mathematics, risk modelling, actuarial techniques, and stochastic processes. These courses develop the theoretical and practical skills required to assess, quantify, and manage complex risks in financial, insurance, investment, and business environments. Students also complete 48 units of electives, including at least 6 units at the advanced 7000/8000 level, allowing specialisation in areas such as finance, econometrics, machine learning, data science, programming, statistical modelling, investments, corporate finance, forecasting, and general insurance. Elective options include industry internships, research essays, and an Actuarial Masters Thesis, providing opportunities to apply actuarial concepts to real-world and research-based problems. The interdisciplinary structure of the program enables students to integrate actuarial knowledge with advanced computational, analytical, and business skills.
