COURSE CURRICULUM

The Lazaridis Master of Finance (MFin) program is a comprehensive 12-month, three-term graduate degree that includes 10 required courses designed to build strong technical, analytical, and practical finance skills. In the Fall term, students take Investment Management, Financial Statement Analysis, Financial Modeling, and Financial Econometrics, alongside mandatory non-credit training in Excel, VBA, Python, Bloomberg, and career development. The Winter term covers Derivatives and Financial Risk Management, Advanced Investment Management, and Economics for Financial Analysis, deepening students’ understanding of markets and risk. In the Spring term, students complete Advanced Corporate Finance and Fixed Income Analysis, along with one elective from either International Financial Management or Machine Learning in Finance. To further customize their learning, students can select from a wide range of recommended electives such as Entrepreneurial Finance, Behavioural Finance, Management of Financial Institutions, Forecasting and Time Series Analysis, Financial Economics, Advanced Security Analysis, the CFA Level I Review, a Research Paper, or participation in the Laurier Start-up Fund. This structured yet flexible curriculum, supported by expert faculty and industry-aligned content, ensures students graduate with the skills and experience needed for high-impact roles in investment management, financial analysis, corporate finance, and other areas of the finance industry.
