COURSE CURRICULUM

Laurier’s Honours Science program offers a flexible and comprehensive curriculum designed to give students a broad foundation across multiple scientific disciplines while allowing exploration of their individual interests. In the first year, students engage with core courses such as Biological Diversity and Evolution, Fundamentals of Chemistry I and II, Calculus I, Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Waves, Introduction to Programming, Data Structures I, Introduction to Physical Geography, Introduction to Psychology I and II, The Surface of Earth, and Unifying Life Processes, providing essential knowledge in both the natural and computational sciences. Students can further expand their perspective with electives in areas such as Environment, Sustainability and Society, Introduction to Human Geography, and Astronomy I and II, cultivating interdisciplinary awareness. Upper-year courses build on this foundation with advanced topics including Introductory Biochemistry, Organic Chemistry I: Fundamentals, Molecular Biology and Genetics, Human Anatomy, Introduction to Immunology, Animals: Form and Function, Environmental Toxicology, Abnormal Psychology, Behavioural Neuroscience, Drugs and Behaviour, Planetary and Space Science, and Windows Application Programming, offering students hands-on laboratory experience and opportunities for research and applied learning. This integrated approach equips graduates with critical thinking, problem-solving, and practical skills, preparing them for careers in research, health, technology, environmental science, or for further professional and graduate studies in diverse scientific fields.
