COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Finance and Management at Wilfrid Laurier University provides a rigorous program that integrates mathematics, finance, statistics, and data analysis with foundational scientific knowledge, preparing students for technical roles, research, or advanced study. In the first year, students complete core courses including Calculus I, Introduction to Macroeconomics, Introduction to Microeconomics, Introduction to Data Analytics, Introduction to Mathematics for Finance, Introductory Linear Algebra with Applications, and either Foundations and Applications of Mathematics or Introduction to Mathematical Proofs. BSc students can also choose electives to broaden their understanding, such as Unifying Life Processes, Biological Diversity and Evolution, Introduction to Programming, Mechanics, Thermodynamics and Waves, The Anatomy of Earth, and The Surface of Earth. Upper-year courses focus on applying mathematical and computational skills to financial and statistical problems, including Data Analytics, Financial Mathematics I and II, Computational Methods for Data Analysis, Probability I and II, Introduction to Statistics, Regression Analysis, Optimization, Differential Equations, Monte Carlo Methods, Stochastic Processes, Introduction to Actuarial Mathematics, and Time Series Analysis. This curriculum combines theoretical rigor with practical applications, equipping students to analyze complex data, model financial and economic systems, and make informed decisions.
