COURSE CURRICULUM

The Chemistry program at Laurier provides a balanced combination of theoretical knowledge and practical laboratory experience, designed to prepare students for diverse scientific careers. In your first year, you will build a solid foundation through courses such as General Chemistry I and II, Calculus for the Natural Sciences, Mechanics, and Thermodynamics and Waves, alongside elective courses that allow you to explore areas like Unifying Life Processes, Biological Diversity and Evolution, and Environment, Sustainability and Society. This first-year curriculum ensures you acquire both quantitative and scientific reasoning skills essential for advanced study. As you progress to upper-year courses, you’ll engage in specialized topics such as Medicinal Chemistry, Introduction to Modern Materials, and Environmental Atmospheric Chemistry, which expand your understanding of chemical principles applied to real-world challenges in health, technology, and the environment.
