COURSE CURRICULUM

Laurier’s Kinesiology program offers a comprehensive exploration of human movement, combining scientific principles with practical applications to prepare students for diverse careers in health, fitness, rehabilitation, and sports management. In the first year, students build a strong foundation with core courses such as Biological Diversity and Evolution, Fundamental Movement Skills and Physical Literacy, Fundamentals of Motor Learning and Control, Fundamentals of Sport and Exercise Psychology, Historical and Philosophical Foundations, and Introduction to Psychology I and II, along with Unifying Life Processes and elective credits to broaden learning. These courses provide an understanding of how the body develops, moves, and responds to physical activity, integrating concepts from biology, psychology, and health sciences. Students can further tailor their education through electives like Balance, Posture and Gait, Neuromuscular Function in Exercise, Exercise Nutrition, and the Psychology of Injury Rehabilitation, offering specialized knowledge in areas of interest. Throughout the program, hands-on learning, laboratory work, and experiential opportunities allow students to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios, developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and professional skills.
