COURSE CURRICULUM

Women and Gender Studies program offers a dynamic and interdisciplinary curriculum that equips students with the tools to critically examine gender and its intersections with society. In the first year, students begin with the core course Introduction to Women and Gender Studies, which provides a foundational understanding of key concepts, theories, and issues related to gender, identity, and social justice. Students can further broaden their perspectives through electives such as Exploring Cultural Studies, Reading Fiction, One Planet, Many Worlds, Values and Society, and Philosophy of Happiness, allowing them to connect gender studies with culture, literature, and global issues. As students progress into upper years, they engage with more specialized topics, including Girls, Women and Popular Culture, Women, Gender and Work, Feminism and Reproductive Justice, Gender, Race and Colonial Legacies, and Gender and Sport. These courses encourage critical analysis of how gender intersects with power, inequality, and representation in various contexts. Through a combination of theoretical learning and applied perspectives, students develop strong skills in critical thinking, research, and communication. The program prepares graduates to address complex social issues and pursue careers in fields such as education, public policy, law, social services, advocacy, and community development.
