COURSE CURRICULUM

Laurier’s Leadership program offers a well-rounded curriculum that combines theory, practice, and personal development to prepare students for leadership roles in a variety of fields. In the first year, students build a strong foundation through core courses such as Leadership Foundations and Leadership and Personal Development, which introduce essential concepts of effective leadership, self-awareness, and ethical decision-making. Complementing these, first-year electives like Introduction to Psychology, Mental Health Literacy, Introduction to Criminology, and Physical Determinants of Health help students explore how human behavior, wellbeing, and social systems influence leadership in diverse contexts. As students advance, upper-year courses provide more specialized and applied learning opportunities, including Designing Leadership Experience, Organizational Leadership, Leadership: Followers and Leaders, Influence, Persuasion and Negotiation, Project Management, and Leadership Skills: Practice and Application. These courses emphasize hands-on experiences, case studies, and collaborative projects, allowing students to refine critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills. The program also highlights ethical leadership, helping students understand the social, cultural, and organizational impact of decisions while developing the confidence and competence to guide teams and organizations.
