COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Arts program in Finance and Management at Wilfrid Laurier University provide a comprehensive curriculum that blends foundational knowledge with advanced analytical and computational skills, preparing students for careers in finance, management, government, and technology, as well as for graduate studies. In the first year, students take core courses in Calculus I, Introduction to Macroeconomics, Introduction to Microeconomics, Introduction to Data Analytics, Introduction to Mathematics for Finance, Introductory Linear Algebra with Applications, and either Foundations and Applications of Mathematics or Introduction to Mathematical Proofs. BA students may also choose electives such as Introduction to Programming or Data Structures I to strengthen computational skills. As students advance to upper-year courses, the curriculum becomes more specialized, offering Financial Mathematics I and II, Computational Methods for Data Analysis, Probability I and II, Regression Analysis, Differential Equations, Monte Carlo Methods, Stochastic Processes, Introduction to Actuarial Mathematics, Stochastic Calculus and Modelling, and Computational Methods in Finance. These courses integrate mathematical rigor, statistical techniques, and computational approaches, allowing students to analyze financial data, model economic and business scenarios, and apply theoretical knowledge to practical challenges. The programs equip graduates with a versatile skill set that combines quantitative reasoning, problem-solving, and technical proficiency, enabling them to pursue careers in finance, data analytics, actuarial science, consulting, or technology-driven business environments.
