COURSE CURRICULUM

The Psychology (BSc) program core courses provide essential knowledge and experience to prepare students for graduate or professional school or employment in the field. In the first year, students select one introductory biology course (BIOL 121 or BIOL 123) along with their associated theory and lab components, a chemistry fundamentals course (CHEM 140) with theory and lab, and a second-level chemistry course (CHEM 141 or CHEM 142) with theory and lab. Calculus is also required, with students choosing either MATH 121 and 122 or MATH 100 and 101. Students must complete PSYC 111 and PSYC 112, covering contemporary psychology, alongside the degree English requirements. In the second year, students take cell biology, biochemistry, organic chemistry, physics or computer science, and core psychology courses including PSYC 204 (Research Methods) and PSYC 205 (Introduction to Biopsychology I), with PSYC 210 (History and Systems of Psychology) recommended as an elective. Third- and fourth-year courses include genetics, statistical methods (PSYC 300A and 300B), and advanced biopsychology topics such as neuropsychology and drug behavior (PSYC 305, 315, 345 or 445). Students then choose five electives from a range of specialized psychology courses, ensuring at least one of PSYC 345 or PSYC 445 is completed. Waivers for statistical courses may be granted with prior math credits. This structure ensures a comprehensive foundation in both biological and psychological sciences.
