COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mathematics (BSc) program’s curriculum for the first two years includes foundational courses such as Calculus I and II (MATH 100/101 or MATH 121/122), Logic and Foundations (MATH 123), and introductory Computer Science courses (CSCI 159 and 161), along with Calculus III (MATH 221), Statistics I (MATH 254), Linear Algebra (MATH 241), Discrete and Combinatorial Mathematics (MATH 223), and either Calculus IV (MATH 222) or Differential Equations (MATH 251). Students interested in advanced statistics are encouraged to also take MATH 255. In the third and fourth years, students take core advanced courses such as Abstract Algebra (MATH 330), Numerical Analysis I (MATH 335), Introductory Real Analysis (MATH 371), and Introductory Complex Variables (MATH 372). Additionally, they must complete at least 18 credits of 300-level or higher courses, with a minimum of 6 credits at the 400-level, from a diverse range of topics including Geometry, Graph Theory, Vector Calculus, Applied Probability, Mathematical Statistics, Regression Analysis, Cryptography, Mathematical Modeling, Mathematical Biology, History of Mathematics, Topology, Partial Differential Equations, Error Correcting Codes, and Advanced Topics in Mathematics. Computer Science courses like Foundations of Computer Science and Numerical Methods may also be included. This comprehensive curriculum ensures students develop a broad and deep understanding of pure and applied mathematics, preparing them for various professional and academic paths.
