COURSE CURRICULUM

The Management Major at Vancouver Island University’s Bachelor of Business Administration program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to develop leadership and organizational skills essential for today’s dynamic business environment. In Year 2, students complete foundational courses such as Intro to Cost and Managerial Accounting, Principles of Microeconomic and Macroeconomic Theory, Buyer Behaviour, Introduction to E-Management, Human Resource Management, Business Statistics I, and nine elective credits, totaling 30 credits. Year 3 focuses on advancing knowledge with courses in Commercial Law, Market Research, International Business I, Negotiations, along with three upper-level business or economics credits, six upper-level management credits, and nine electives. The curriculum emphasizes critical management skills including decision-making, negotiation, and international business understanding. In Year 4, students complete courses in Operations Management and Strategic Management Issues, alongside six upper-level business credits, which may include a Senior Project or Business Internship, six upper-level management credits, three upper-level electives, and nine elective credits, summing to 30 credits. Throughout the four years, students accumulate a total of 120 credits required for graduation. The program offers a well-rounded education that integrates theory with practical experience, preparing graduates to effectively manage teams, projects, and organizations. PHIL 330 is recommended as an elective to further enhance critical thinking skills, rounding out the holistic approach to management education.
