COURSE CURRICULUM

The International Business Major in Vancouver Island University’s Bachelor of Business Administration program is designed to prepare students for global business careers by combining core business knowledge with international experience and language skills. In Year 2, students complete foundational courses such as Intro to Cost and Managerial Accounting, Principles of Micro- and Macroeconomic Theory, Buyer Behaviour, Introduction to E-Management, Human Resource Management, Business Statistics I, along with three elective credits and six language credits, totaling 30 credits. Students with strong language proficiency may substitute the language requirement with electives focused on cultural content. Year 3 focuses on international business topics, including Commercial Law, International Marketing, International Business I, International Human Resource Management, along with upper-level business or economics and management courses. Students are also required to complete a minimum of nine credits of international experience through exchange programs, field schools, or internships, ensuring practical exposure to global markets. In Year 4, advanced courses like International Finance, International Business Strategy, Strategies for Sustainable Development, and Strategic Management Issues are completed, supplemented by upper-level business credits and electives to total 30 credits. The entire program comprises 120 credits, blending rigorous academics with practical international exposure to equip graduates with the skills and global perspective needed to succeed in today’s interconnected business environment.
