COURSE CURRICULUM

The Economics Major within the Bachelor of Business Administration at Vancouver Island University requires students to complete a sequence of courses over Years 2 to 4, following the general first-year BBA requirements. In Year 2, students take foundational courses including Intro to Cost and Managerial Accounting, Principles of Microeconomics and Macroeconomics, Buyer Behaviour, Business Statistics I, and either Calculus I or Calculus with Economic and Business Applications, alongside Introduction to E-Management and three electives, totaling 30 credits. In Year 4, students complete advanced topics including Special Projects in Economic Policy I and II or upper-level electives, International Finance or related upper-level economics courses, International Business or The Transnational Corporation, Strategic Management Issues, three upper-level business credits, three more upper-level economics credits, and nine electives, completing another 30 credits. The program totals 120 credits for graduation, blending economic theory, applied policy, finance, and management to prepare students for diverse careers in economics, finance, business strategy, and international trade.
