The Bachelor of Hospitality Management at VIU offers three specialized options—Hospitality, Baking and Pastry Arts, and Culinary—each designed to provide comprehensive business and practical skills for the dynamic hospitality industry. The Hospitality option covers courses in lodging operations, leadership, marketing, financial control, food production, event management, and cultural diversity, alongside work-integrated learning opportunities. The Baking and Pastry Arts option focuses on foundational and advanced pastry skills, bakery business design, and integrates hospitality management courses for a well-rounded education. The Culinary option emphasizes culinary techniques, meat cutting, garde-manger, pastries, and food service management, combined with leadership and marketing principles. Across all options, students engage in work-integrated learning to gain real-world experience. Electives in the third and fourth years allow students to tailor their degrees, choosing from fields like wine business, tourism, accounting, economics, management, and marketing.
