COURSE CURRICULUM

History (BA) program, students must achieve a minimum “C” average in 18 credits of 100- or 200-level History courses during their first two years. Within these 18 credits, students are required to complete 6 credits in foundational Canadian history courses, choosing from options such as HIST 111, HIST 112, HIST 113, HIST 114 or 115, and HIST 116. Additionally, students must complete 6 credits in foundational non-Canadian history courses, with options including HIST 101, HIST 102, HIST 119, HIST 120, HIST 121, HIST 122, HIST 131, HIST 132, HIST 140, and HIST 141. This ensures a balanced understanding of both Canadian and global historical perspectives. In the third and fourth years, students focus on more advanced study, completing a minimum of 30 credits in History courses numbered 300 and above. This upper-level coursework allows for specialized study in various historical fields and themes. The program also offers flexibility for students interested in pursuing a double major in History and another subject, provided they meet the degree requirements for both disciplines. This structure provides a comprehensive foundation and advanced expertise, preparing students for a range of careers or further academic pursuits by developing critical thinking, research skills, and a nuanced understanding of historical contexts.
