COURSE CURRICULUM

The Geography (BA) program offers three distinct streams—General, Sustainable Resource Management, and Environment, Society, and Sustainability—each beginning with a common foundation in the first two years. All students complete 24 credits through courses such as Geographies of the World, Environmental Geography, Earth and Atmospheric Environments, Human Environments, and essential skills courses like Maps and Mapping, Statistical Methods in Geography, and Regions of Canada. In the General stream, upper-year students complete courses including Research Methods in Geography, Geographic Information Systems, Environment and Society, Field Studies in Geography I, and six additional upper-level geography electives, totaling 30 credits. The Sustainable Resource Management stream emphasizes environmental systems and policy, with focused courses such as Remote Sensing, Natural Resource Management, Climatology or Biogeography, Hydrology or Geomorphology, and Applications in Natural Resource Management. The Environment, Society, and Sustainability stream integrates social and environmental justice topics, featuring courses like Space, Place, and Culture, Urban and Regional Planning, Climate Justice, Health Justice, and Applications in Urban and Regional Management. All streams develop key geographic skills in research, spatial analysis, and fieldwork, preparing students for careers in environmental management, planning, or sustainability-related fields through a well-rounded, interdisciplinary curriculum.
