COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first two years of the Economics program, students complete 12 credits in Economics, Mathematics, and Calculus courses, alongside 6 credits of English, with recommended electives in Economics, Management, Math, and Social Sciences. Core courses include Principles of Microeconomic Theory and Macroeconomic Theory, plus statistics options such as Introduction to Statistics for Social Sciences or Business Statistics, and calculus options like Calculus with Economic and Business Applications or Calculus for Engineering and Physical Sciences. In the third and fourth years, students take 18 credits of core upper-level Economics courses, including Money, Banking and Financial Institutions, Intermediate Microeconomic and Macroeconomic Theory, Special Topics in Microeconomic and Macroeconomic Analysis, and Econometrics. Additionally, students select 12 credits of upper-level Economics electives from diverse subjects such as International Trade, Economic Development, Economies in Transition, Environmental Economics, Government Spending and Taxation, The Transnational Corporation, Regional Economic Analysis, and International Finance. This curriculum offers a robust foundation in economic theory and applied analysis, preparing students for careers in public administration, finance, trade, and policy analysis. The program emphasizes both quantitative skills and critical economic thinking, equipping graduates to address complex economic challenges in Canadian and global contexts with flexibility and expertise.
