COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biology program for Years 1 and 2 requires students to select foundational courses in zoology and cellular and molecular biology, including both theory and laboratory components, totaling 8 credits. Additionally, students must choose three courses from options such as Introduction to Cell Biology, Principles of Biochemistry I, Ecology, Microbiology I, Genetics, or Botany, accumulating 9 to 10 credits. These courses provide a solid base in various biological disciplines and prepare students for advanced studies. It is important for students to review the prerequisites for upper-level courses to plan their second-year studies effectively. In Years 3 and 4, students are required to complete a minimum of twelve credits from at least four Biology courses numbered 300 or above, offering opportunities to specialize and deepen their knowledge in their areas of interest. Up to four credits from related interdisciplinary courses such as Fisheries, Forestry, Geography, or Natural Resource Management may also count toward this requirement, allowing students to tailor their education to their academic and career goals. This program structure ensures a comprehensive understanding of biological concepts while providing flexibility to explore related fields and prepare for diverse career opportunities in biology and beyond.
