COURSE CURRICULUM

The Consumer Electronics Technician program is structured to provide students with 60 credits of comprehensive training over two academic years, preparing them for work in the electronics repair industry. In the first year, students begin by building a strong technical foundation through courses like Direct Current (DC) Circuit Analysis, Alternating Current (AC) Basics, Power Supply Fundamentals, and Measurement & Instrumentation in Samsung Service. Practical skills are emphasized through Technical Skills 1 and 2, which focus on hands-on repair procedures and tool usage. Students are also introduced to customer service practices and workplace efficiency with courses like Customer Service Essentials and Introduction to Lean Six Sigma. Software for Repair Technicians and Principles of Management round out the year, developing students’ abilities to use repair-specific software tools and manage workflow effectively. In the second year, students delve into specialized topics such as Samsung Systems and Controls, Mobile Device Repair, and LCD Monitor and Television Repair, allowing them to service a range of modern consumer electronics. Business Mathematics and The Canadian Economy give students insights into the economic and financial context of the repair industry. Additional courses in Computer Hardware, Technical Skills 3, Communications in the Canadian Workplace, and Organizational Behaviour ensure that graduates possess the technical and professional skills required to operate effectively in real-world environments. This full-time program includes both theoretical and practical components and is designed for flexibility, with classes offered during the day or evening. Students typically receive a summer break from May to August. By the end of the program, graduates are well-equipped for entry-level positions in the electronics servicing industry, with competencies that span technical repair, customer interaction, and professional workplace behavior. The curriculum is aligned with current industry standards and focuses on the technologies most in demand by employers in the electronics repair sector.
