COURSE CURRICULUM

Cybersecurity program is structured over two academic years and is designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills necessary to safeguard government, business, and large institutional systems against cyber threats. In the first year, students complete 13 credits in term one with courses such as Orientation to GRC and Cybersecurity, which introduces governance, risk, and compliance fundamentals, and Cybersecurity Fundamentals that provide a solid technical foundation. Business Communication and Presentation Skills, Business Fundamentals, and IT Risk courses develop students' abilities to communicate effectively and understand the business context of cybersecurity. In term two, students undertake 12 credits, including Introduction to Security Program Management and Project Management, where they learn to plan and manage cybersecurity initiatives using best practices. Report and Technical Writing enhances their documentation skills, while Frameworks and Auditing introduces various compliance and audit methodologies essential for regulatory adherence. The second year further advances students' expertise with term three’s 12 credits focusing on Cloud Security Principles, Incident Response and Disaster Recovery, IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL), and Privacy and Data Protection, emphasizing practical and emerging areas in cybersecurity. In the final term, students complete 12 credits with Advanced Cybersecurity Topics and Governance of Enterprise IT, which explore complex security challenges and enterprise-level management. Professional Development in Cybersecurity fosters soft skills and career readiness, while the Capstone course offers an integrative project-based experience to apply their learning in a real-world context. Throughout the program, students develop both technical proficiency and professional skills such as effective communication, project management, and ethical decision-making, preparing them to assess and implement security controls, manage incidents, and ensure regulatory compliance in diverse organizational environments.
