COURSE CURRICULUM

The Dental Technology program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge required to excel in the fabrication of dental restorative prostheses, orthodontic appliances, and implant-supported restorations. In the first term, students focus on foundational dental technology principles through courses such as Dental Technology Foundations, Biosciences 1, Professional Practice 1, Dental Laboratory Patient Care 1, and Digital Technology 1, totaling 20 credits. The second term builds on this foundation with advanced biosciences, removable and fixed prosthetics, orthodontics, continued patient care, and digital technology, also accounting for 20 credits. Term three intensifies the learning experience with courses like Professional Practice 2, advanced removable and fixed prosthetics, orthodontics, and digital technology, maintaining a rigorous 20-credit load. The fourth term further develops expertise in removable and fixed prosthetics and orthodontics, with a continued focus on hands-on and digital skills, again totaling 20 credits. Finally, term five culminates the program with Professional Practice 3 and a comprehensive Dental Technology Practicum, providing 20 credits of practical, real-world experience. Throughout the program, students gain a strong understanding of dental anatomy, physiology, and morphology, alongside laboratory techniques, equipment operation, and material science. They learn to apply health and safety standards, professional ethics, and communication skills relevant to dental technology. By the end of the program, graduates are prepared to design, fabricate, modify, and repair dental appliances with precision, applying critical thinking and problem-solving skills to ensure high-quality patient care and successful integration into dental technology practices. The program totals 100 credits and offers a balanced blend of theory, technical skills, and hands-on practice essential for a career in dental technology.
