COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Medical Biotechnology (MMB) program requires the completion of a total of ten courses, combining core biotechnology courses, science electives, and business courses to provide a well-rounded professional education. Six core MMB courses form the foundation of the program, including Human Physiology and Mechanisms of Diseases (BIOC-8700), Drugs: From Discovery to Market (BIOC-8730), Protein Structure and Function (BIOC-8740), Clinical Biochemistry (BIOC-8760), Biotechnology Entrepreneurship (BIOC-8780), and Biotechnology Laboratory (BIOC-8790), which equip students with theoretical knowledge and hands-on laboratory experience. Students also choose two science electives from advanced courses in biochemistry and chemistry, such as Free Radicals in Chemistry and Biology (CHEM-8520), Bio- and Sustainable Materials (CHEM-8641), and Membrane Biochemistry (CHEM-8650), to deepen their scientific expertise. Additionally, students complete two business courses to develop commercial and management skills, including Marketing (BSMM-8140) and one course selected from International Business (BSMM-8310) or Leadership and Organizational Change (BSMM-8340). The recommended course sequence spreads the ten courses over four semesters: the first semester includes foundational courses in physiology, protein structure, and marketing; the second semester covers drug discovery, clinical biochemistry, and a science elective; the third semester includes the biotechnology laboratory and a business course; and the fourth semester concludes with biotechnology entrepreneurship and a science elective. Academic advising is encouraged to ensure optimal course selection and sequencing.
