COURSE CURRICULUM

MEng students in Electrical and Computer Engineering are required to follow a structured course sequence to ensure they acquire foundational engineering knowledge before advancing to specialized subjects. Students must complete four mandatory courses: Engineering Technical Communications (GENG-8000), Engineering Mathematics (GENG-8010), Engineering Project Management (GENG-8020), and a fourth course specific to the program (GENG-8030). Registration in major courses, which constitute the core of the student’s field of study, is conditional on progress in these mandatory courses. Specifically, students are allowed to enroll in a major course only if they have successfully completed all four mandatory courses, ensuring they have the essential analytical, communication, and project management skills needed for advanced study. Alternatively, students may register for a major course while concurrently completing the fourth mandatory course (GENG-8030), provided they have already successfully completed the first three mandatory courses (GENG-8000, GENG-8010, and GENG-8020). This approach maintains academic rigor by guaranteeing that students build a strong foundation before tackling complex, discipline-specific engineering topics, while also providing some flexibility for those who wish to progress efficiently.
