COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Applied Computing program requires the completion of 30 credit hours, comprised of ten courses worth three credits each. Students must take eight core courses: COMP-8117 Advanced Software Engineering Topics, COMP-8157 Advanced Database Topics, COMP-8347 Internet Applications and Distributed Systems, COMP-8547 Advanced Computing Concepts, COMP-8567 Advanced Systems Programming, COMP-8677 Networking and Data Security, and the two-part internship/project sequence, COMP-8967 and COMP-8977. All core courses, except the internship/project courses, may be offered in accelerated four- or six-week formats to provide flexibility. In addition, students select two elective courses from a range of options, including BSMM-8120 Finance in a Global Perspective, BSMM-8130 Managing for Organizational Effectiveness, BSMM-8140 Marketing, ESCI-8818 Special Topics, any graduate-level COMP course (excluding COMP-8100 Literature Review and Survey and COMP-8900 Directed Special Studies), or selected 4th-year undergraduate COMP courses. Students interested in specializing in Artificial Intelligence can do so by completing two approved AI courses from a designated list and selecting a COMP-8977 project on an AI topic, which is noted on their transcripts. A suggested program sequence spreads the core courses, electives, and internships across four terms: Term 1 includes COMP-8117, COMP-8547, and one elective; Term 2 includes COMP-8157, COMP-8567, and one elective; Term 3 focuses on COMP-8347, COMP-8677, and COMP-8967; and Term 4 concludes with COMP-8977, providing a structured yet flexible path to graduation.
