Early courses, such as BIOC 2010 and 2015, introduce organic chemistry of biomolecules, while BIOC 3030 and 3100 focus on natural health products, metabolism, and biochemical mechanisms. Students progress to specialized courses in protein and nucleic acid chemistry, enzyme engineering, pharmacology, and biotechnology laboratories, including BIOC 3130, 3140, 3310, and 3581, building both theoretical knowledge and practical lab skills. Advanced 4000-level courses, such as BIOC 4010, 4020, 4030, and 4050, cover bioinformatics, lipids and signaling, enzymology, and drug design, providing opportunities to explore cutting-edge research and applications in health sciences. Graduate-level 8000 courses deepen expertise in protein chemistry, structural proteomics, mass spectrometry, analytical toxicology, computational enzymology, and advanced DNA science, alongside studies in cell biology, physiology, biotechnology entrepreneurship, and clinical biochemistry. Laboratory-focused courses, including BIOC 8580 and 8790, emphasize animal-free biomedical research methods, experimental techniques, and hands-on biotech innovation. The program integrates theoretical instruction, practical laboratories, and research-driven projects, equipping students with critical analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills.
