COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechanical Engineering program at the University of Windsor provides a broad and in-depth education that prepares students for careers in diverse engineering fields, including automotive, aerospace, and materials engineering. Students begin with foundational courses in dynamics, advanced engineering design, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics, then progress to intermediate topics such as stress analysis, mechanical vibrations, applied thermodynamics, control theory, machine dynamics, and engineering measurements. As students advance, they can select specialized courses to match their interests, including automotive engineering fundamentals, aerospace engineering, and materials science covering properties, thermodynamics, and kinetics of materials. In the fourth year, the program emphasizes advanced design, analysis, and applied engineering skills through courses such as capstone design, machine design, thermofluid systems design, and sustainability in engineering. Students pursuing the automotive stream can study vehicle dynamics, internal combustion engines, automotive materials, and manufacturing methods, while aerospace students explore propulsion, aerodynamics, flight dynamics, and aerospace structures. Those focused on materials engineering can take courses in ceramics, modern steels, welding engineering, and directed studies in materials design. Throughout the program, students gain practical, hands-on experience, preparing them for work in industry, research, or further graduate studies.
