COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Science in Public Health Sciences (Thesis option) equips students to address complex health challenges through interdisciplinary, research-intensive training. Students must complete five one-term graduate courses, including HLTH 601 (Lifespan Determinants of Health and Disease) and two methods courses from a selection covering regression models, epidemiological methods, health informatics, and qualitative research. Two additional electives, approved by the supervisor, may be chosen from within or outside the School of Public Health Sciences (SPHS). Students must maintain a minimum overall average of 75% with no course grade below 70%. The program offers the opportunity to pursue a Graduate Research Field (GRF) in areas such as Aging and Health, Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Global Health, Health and Environment, Health Evaluation, Health Informatics, and Work and Health. Each GRF requires a specific combination of required and elective courses, participation in Graduate Studies Seminars I and II, and a thesis relevant to the field. Completion of a GRF is formally recognized on the student’s transcript. The program prepares students for impactful careers in research, policy, and public health practice by integrating foundational knowledge with advanced analytical and methodological skills, making it ideal for those aiming to contribute meaningfully to public health at local, national, or global levels.
