COURSE CURRICULUM

Master of Science in Kinesiology and Health Sciences requires students to complete a minimum of 2.00 units of graduate courses, including KIN 630 Research Design and Statistical Analysis or an equivalent approved quantitative or qualitative analysis course. Students must maintain an average grade of at least 75%, with no individual course grade below 70%; grades below 60% may result in program withdrawal. Additionally, students must complete credit/no credit seminar courses KIN 670A and KIN 670B. The program offers Graduate Research Fields in Biomechanics, Neuroscience, and Physiology and Nutrition, each requiring completion of specialized required and elective courses. For Biomechanics, students must take courses such as Instrumentation and Signal Processing in Biophysical Research, Modern Methods in Biomechanical Modeling, and Research Design and Statistical Analysis, along with electives. The Neuroscience field requires Research Design and Statistical Analysis plus electives like Neural Control of Human Movement and Human Neuroanatomy. The Physiology and Nutrition field mandates Research Design and Statistical Analysis and electives covering topics such as Skeletal Muscle Physiology, Molecular Basis of Disease, and Cardiorespiratory Integration. A thesis must be completed and approved within the chosen research field to earn the designation, reflecting in-depth research and coursework expertise on the student’s transcript, demonstrating mastery in their specialized area within kinesiology.
