COURSE CURRICULUM

Master of Science in Geography Collaborative Water program is designed for students seeking to conduct original research while developing interdisciplinary expertise in water-related issues. Students begin by completing GEOG700A and GEOG700B (Geographic Scholarship and Practice 1 and 2, 0.25 units each), which build foundational skills in academic research, writing, and professional development. Central to the program are two specialized water courses: WATER601 – Integrated Water Management (0.50 units), which explores theoretical frameworks and practical strategies for managing water resources sustainably, and WATER602 – Integrated Water Management Project (0.50 units), which involves applied group work, field activities, and interdisciplinary collaboration to tackle real-world water challenges. To support their thesis research, students also complete one additional graduate-level course (0.50 units) from either GEOG or GEMCC that aligns with their specific area of study, such as environmental science, geomatics, or human geography. With approval from the Graduate Officer, this elective may also be taken from outside GEOG or GEMCC to support interdisciplinary research goals. This combination of coursework and thesis research equips students with the analytical, technical, and collaborative skills needed to contribute meaningful solutions to global water challenges across academic, public, and private sectors.
