COURSE CURRICULUM

The thesis option of the Master of Science in Geography Collaborative Aeronautics program combines advanced geographic research with interdisciplinary aeronautical training to prepare students for impactful careers in aviation, aerospace, and related fields. Students must complete AVIA601 (Interdisciplinary Aeronautics, 0.50 units) and AVIA602 (Interdisciplinary Aeronautics Project, 0.50 units), which provide foundational knowledge and hands-on, collaborative experience with peers from diverse disciplines addressing real-world aeronautical challenges. Additionally, students take GEOG700A and GEOG700B (Geographic Scholarship and Practice 1 and 2, 0.25 units each), which develop essential academic and professional skills in geographic research. To support and tailor their thesis work, students must also complete one graduate-level course (0.50 units) in GEOG or GEMCC that aligns with their specific research focus in areas such as environmental science, human geography, geomatics, or environmental resource management. With approval from the Graduate Officer, this elective may be taken outside of GEOG or GEMCC to support interdisciplinary objectives. The combination of geographic theory, aeronautical training, and thesis research provides students with a unique skill set to contribute to sustainable solutions in aviation and aerospace sectors, blending spatial analysis, environmental insight, and technological innovation.
