COURSE CURRICULUM

Students pursuing the thesis option in the Master of Science in Biology Collaborative Water program must complete a minimum of three one-term (0.50 unit) graduate courses approved by the Department of Biology, with two of these credits fulfilled by the core interdisciplinary water courses, WATER 601 Integrated Water Management and WATER 602 Integrated Water Management Project. Offered through the Collaborative Water Program, this degree encourages an interdisciplinary approach to water research, integrating perspectives from multiple academic faculties. While students complete their specialized training within their home departments, they collaborate with peers from other departments through the core WATER courses, fostering a broad understanding of water issues. The Department of Biology will evaluate whether courses from the Collaborative Water Program can count as electives, which means some students may need to take additional courses to satisfy all program requirements. This structure supports both specialized knowledge in biology and interdisciplinary skills essential for addressing complex water challenges. The combination of core water courses and home department specialization equips students with a comprehensive and integrated understanding of water management, preparing them to contribute effectively in diverse water-related fields and interdisciplinary teams.
