COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Quantitative Finance (MQF) program offers two academic pathways—thesis or research paper—each with distinct course requirements. In the thesis option, students complete two core courses: ACC 770/ACTSC 970 (Finance 1) and ACC 771/ACTSC 971 (Finance 2), along with two additional graduate-level electives approved by their academic advisor, achieving a minimum overall average of 75%. Students must also submit a thesis proposal by the end of their second term and complete a Master's Thesis as a program milestone. The research paper option involves a more comprehensive coursework load, requiring completion of eight graduate-level courses: the same core Finance 1 and 2, plus ACC 772/ACTSC 972 (Finance 3), ACTSC 969 (Stochastic Calculus for Quantitative Finance), STAT 850 (Estimation and Hypothesis Testing), STAT 906 (Computer Intensive Methods for Stochastic Models in Finance), STAT 974/ACTSC 974 (Financial Econometrics), and two approved electives. By the end of the second term, students must have completed at least five courses, including Finance 1, Finance 2, and STAT 850, to remain in good academic standing. This rigorous structure ensures that MQF graduates are well-prepared with advanced technical skills for high-level roles in the financial industry or further academic research.
