COURSE CURRICULUM

The Coursework option in the Master of Public Service program requires students to successfully complete 10 one-term courses, each with a 0.50 unit weight, providing a broad and in-depth understanding of public service principles, governance, and policy development. These courses, detailed in the Public Service (PS) section of the academic calendar, cover diverse topics essential for building leadership and administrative expertise in government and public sector roles. In addition to coursework, students must complete PS 622 Major Team Project, a capstone experience where, under the guidance of a Project Advisor, they collaborate in assigned teams to research, analyze, and write a comprehensive paper on a significant public policy issue. This project fosters teamwork, critical thinking, and practical application of knowledge, allowing students to engage deeply with real-world challenges facing public service today. Together, the coursework and major team project equip students with the analytical skills, interdisciplinary knowledge, and hands-on experience necessary to excel in the complex and dynamic environment of Canadian public service, preparing them to make meaningful contributions at various levels of government.
