COURSE CURRICULUM

The thesis option for the Master of Applied Mathematics Collaborative Water program requires students to complete four one-term graduate courses, each worth 0.50 units, including two core Water courses: WATER 601 Integrated Water Management and WATER 602 Integrated Water Management Project. At least two of these courses must be AMATH courses, and students must maintain a minimum grade point average of 70% in their coursework. This program is offered through the Collaborative Water Program, which is a joint initiative across several academic faculties and departments, fostering interdisciplinary perspectives on water-related challenges. Students complete their specialized training within their home departments while collaborating with peers from various disciplines through the core interdisciplinary courses. A maximum of two graduate courses that are cross-listed or held with undergraduate courses can be counted toward the MMath thesis degree, a policy that applies to all 600-level AMATH courses and other cross-listed courses. Course selections are made in consultation with the student’s supervisor, encouraging a broad understanding of mathematics and its diverse applications. Many courses appropriate for this program are offered across the Faculties of Mathematics, Science, and Engineering, allowing students to tailor their studies to support both their research interests and professional goals in water management and applied mathematics.
