COURSE CURRICULUM

Students in the Master of Applied Mathematics Collaborative Quantum Information program (thesis option) are required to complete four one-term (0.50 unit) graduate courses with a minimum overall average of 70%. Of these, at least two must be Applied Mathematics (AMATH) courses, and no more than two can be cross-listed or held with undergraduate courses, including all 600-level AMATH courses or similar offerings from other departments. As part of the program’s interdisciplinary focus, students must complete two core Quantum Information courses: QIC 710 Quantum Information Processing and QIC 750 Quantum Information Processing Devices. These courses provide a comprehensive foundation in the principles and technologies underpinning quantum information science. The remaining courses are chosen in consultation with the student's supervisor and should support a broad understanding of mathematics and its applications across disciplines. Students are encouraged to explore relevant coursework offered by departments in the Faculties of Mathematics, Science, and Engineering. This structure ensures a strong integration of theoretical mathematical frameworks with the specialized knowledge needed to engage in cutting-edge quantum information research, preparing students for further academic study or professional roles in the rapidly evolving quantum technology sector.
