COURSE CURRICULUM

The coursework option for the Master of Kinesiology (MKin) program requires completion of a minimum of 4.00 units of graduate courses, typically eight courses each with a 0.50 unit weight. At least 0.50 units must focus on quantitative or qualitative analysis, such as research methods, modelling, mathematics, or statistics, and a minimum of 2.00 units must be from the Department of Kinesiology and Health Sciences. All courses must be graded numerically, with students required to maintain an average of at least 75%. Grades below 70% on any course or an average below 75% will prompt a review by the Department Graduate Committee, and grades below 60% may lead to withdrawal or the need to retake courses. Students may also choose to pursue one of two Graduate Specializations: Human Factors and Ergonomics (HFE) or Movement and Exercise Sciences (MES), both recognized on the transcript but not the diploma. The HFE specialization requires six courses totaling 2.50 credits, including Physical Ergonomics, Design, Modeling & Simulation, Professional Practice with lab, Organizational Ergonomics, and Human Computer Interaction. The MES specialization requires three core courses and one elective totaling 2.00 credits, with required courses including Movement Assessment, Cardiorespiratory Assessment, and Exercise Programming, and electives like Nutrition and Exercise or Physical Activity and Cognition. Equivalent courses may substitute with approval.
