COURSE CURRICULUM

The thesis option for the Master of Environmental Studies in Geography Collaborative Aeronautics program requires students to complete a comprehensive set of courses that integrate geographic scholarship with interdisciplinary aeronautics training. Students must take AVIA601 – Interdisciplinary Aeronautics (0.50), which introduces core concepts and collaborative skills essential to the aeronautics field, followed by AVIA602 – Interdisciplinary Aeronautics Project (0.50), a hands-on course focused on applied research and project work in aeronautics. In addition to these, students complete GEOG700A and GEOG700B – Geographic Scholarship and Practice 1 and 2 (each 0.25 unit weight), courses designed to build advanced academic skills and research foundations in geography. To further tailor their studies to their research interests, students must also complete at least one additional GEOG or GEMCC graduate-level course (0.50 unit weight) that complements their chosen field of study. With approval from the Graduate Officer, students may substitute this elective with a graduate-level course from outside the Geography or GEMCC departments, ensuring flexibility and relevance to their research goals. This course structure equips students with both interdisciplinary aeronautical expertise and rigorous geographic research skills, preparing them to produce a significant academic contribution to environmental studies, geography, and aeronautics.
