COURSE CURRICULUM

Students in the coursework option of the Master of Engineering in Collaborative Health Technologies program must complete CHE 600 Engineering and Research Methods, Ethics, Practice, and Law (0.25 credit weight), CHE 650 Engineering Work-term Experience Report (0.25 credit weight, to be completed in term 5 or 6), and nine graduate courses (0.50 unit weight each). These include either CHE 601 Theory and Application of Transport Phenomena or CHE 602 Chemical Reactor Analysis, along with two Health Technologies core courses chosen from ECON 643 Health Economics, MSE 619 Healthcare Analytics, and PHIL 626 Bioethics and Technology. Students must also complete one Faculty of Engineering Health Technologies elective course, such as BME 600 Design of Biomedical Technologies, BME 602 Foundations in Biomechanical Engineering, ECE 608 Quantitative Methods in Biomedical Engineering, ENVE 585 Air Quality Engineering and Impacts, or MSE 630 Human-Computer Interaction. Additionally, two Health Technologies elective courses are required from options including HLTH 605B Quantitative Methods and Analysis, HLTH 606B Principles of Epidemiology for Public Health, HLTH 612 Data Structures and Standards in Health Informatics, HLTH 615 Requirements Specifications and Analysis in Health Systems, HLTH 633 Digital Health, HLTH 657M Application of Artificial Intelligence in Health, and HLTH 658M Machine Learning Techniques in Health. Finally, students must complete three CHE courses at the 500 or 600 level, with no more than two being 500-level and no more than one being a reading course. Graduate courses offered by the Faculty of Engineering are numbered in the 600 or 700 series, each carrying a 0.50 unit weight and typically lasting one term as defined in the Graduate Studies Academic Calendar.
