COURSE CURRICULUM

Master of Applied Science in Psychology (Industrial and Organizational Psychology) program pursuing the Master's Research Paper option must successfully complete a minimum of six one-term graduate courses (0.50 unit weight each). All courses are taken for a numeric grade unless only offered on a credit/no credit basis, and no more than half of the required courses may be taken as credit/no credit. Students planning to take a course extra to their degree requirements must submit a drop/add form identifying the course as extra-to-degree. Course substitutions are permitted with departmental approval and must be confirmed with the advisor, Area Head, and Associate Chair of Graduate Studies. The required courses include one statistics course—PSYCH 632 Multiple Regression or an approved substitute—one research methods course—PSYCH 887 Research Methods in Industrial/Organizational—and two core I/O courses: PSYCH 875 Organizational Psychology and PSYCH 879 Personnel Selection. In addition, students must complete two I/O content courses from a list that includes topics such as work motivation, job performance, training, justice in the workplace, and more. Students must also enroll in PSYCH 885 Industrial and Organizational Psychology Research Seminar during the Fall and Winter terms for at least two years, unless the program is completed earlier or departmental permission is granted.
