COURSE CURRICULUM

The thesis option of the Master of Applied Science in Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering requires students to complete ME 600 Engineering Practice, Research Methods, Ethics & Professional Development for MME Graduate Students (0.25 unit weight), along with four one-term (0.50 unit weight) graduate-level courses or equivalent courses approved for graduate credit. Of these four courses, at least one must be a ME 600-level course and at least one additional course must be an ME course at the 500, 600, or 700 level, with a minimum total of two ME courses required. Only one 500-level course may be counted towards degree requirements. In line with Faculty of Engineering regulations, at least two-thirds of the courses must be at the 600 or 700 level, ensuring advanced academic rigour. Furthermore, to maintain academic diversity, no more than half of the courses credited toward the degree may be taught by the student’s thesis supervisor. This course structure ensures that students gain deep, focused knowledge in mechanical and mechatronics engineering while also acquiring the professional and research skills needed to contribute meaningfully to the field through their thesis work and future professional or academic pursuits.
