COURSE CURRICULUM

For the thesis option in the Master of Applied Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering Collaborative Quantum Information program, students must complete at least five half-credit (0.50 unit weight) courses, including three core courses and two electives from approved lists. The core quantum information courses include QIC 710 Quantum Information Processing, QIC 750/ECE 676 Quantum Information Processing Devices, and QIC 885/ECE 677 Applied Quantum Mechanics, which provide a solid foundation in quantum theory and its applications. For electives, students must select one course from options such as ECE 612 Information Theory, ECE 604 Stochastic Processes, ECE 672 Optoelectronic Devices, or ECE 720 Special Topics in Computers and Digital Systems Software, which includes Cryptographic Computations. Additionally, students choose one more elective from courses like ECE 633 Nanoelectronics, ECE 635 Fabrication of Nanoscale: Techniques & Applications, ECE 671 Microwave and RF Engineering, or special topics courses such as ECE 730 Solid State Devices (covering magnetism, spintronics, and photonic devices) and ECE 770 Antenna and Microwave Theory (with topics in superconductivity, photonics, and quantum optics). These carefully selected courses equip students with interdisciplinary knowledge spanning quantum information science, nanoelectronics, and device physics, supporting advanced research and innovation under expert supervision.
