COURSE CURRICULUM

Students in the thesis option of the Master of Applied Science in Civil Engineering Collaborative Water program must complete five one-term courses (0.50 unit weight each) from the 500, 600, or 700 series that are acceptable for graduate credit by the Department, maintaining an overall average of at least 70%. Two of these course requirements are fulfilled by the core interdisciplinary courses WATER 601 Integrated Water Management and WATER 602 Integrated Water Management Project, for which students must also achieve a minimum average of 70%. This degree is offered through the Collaborative Water Program, a joint initiative involving multiple departments across various academic faculties that fosters the development of interdisciplinary perspectives on water challenges. While students complete their specialized training within their home departments, they engage in interdisciplinary learning alongside peers from other departments through the core courses WATER 601 and WATER 602. To maintain academic rigor, only one 500-level course may be counted toward the program requirements. This structure ensures students gain both depth in their civil engineering focus areas and breadth through collaborative, interdisciplinary approaches, preparing them to address complex global water issues with innovative, integrative solutions.
