COURSE CURRICULUM

Students in the Master of Applied Science in Chemical Engineering Collaborative Water program must fulfill specific thesis-based course requirements to graduate. They are required to complete CHE 600 Engineering and Research Methods, Ethics, Practice, and Law (0.25 credit weight), along with four graduate courses (each 0.50 unit weight). These include either CHE 601 Theory and Application of Transport Phenomena or CHE 602 Chemical Reactor Analysis, WATER 601 Integrated Water Management, WATER 602 Integrated Water Management Project, and one graduate-level CHE elective course. Students must adhere to additional academic regulations: no more than one course can be a 500-level course, no more than two courses can be taught by their supervisor(s), and no more than one course can be a reading course. This degree is offered through the Collaborative Water Program, a unique interdisciplinary initiative involving several academic faculties, designed to promote a broad perspective on water-related issues. Students complete their core Chemical Engineering training while also engaging in interdisciplinary collaboration with peers from other departments through WATER 601 and WATER 602. Courses are selected in consultation with the student’s research supervisor, and students are expected to maintain progress in their research while completing at least two 0.50 unit courses per term.
